The UFTI Final Report is published for consideration by the SmartGrowth partners.

This report specifically relates to the transport journey strategic functions required to deliver the urban form and transport spatial intent outlined in the Final Report’s optimal programme.

Provides a detailed assessment of the four possible scenarios outlined in the Interim Report and outlines the elements that the UFTI partners agreed should be incorporated into the optimal programme.

These principles focus on elements of urban design and urban planning that the UFTI project team believes are critically important to achieve the benefits of the optimal programme.

Builds on the extensive work completed to date and identifies the opportunities for making a significant shift in transport mode share over the next 10, 20, and 30 years.

These two reports draw insights from other cities who have experienced similar growth cycles to what our sub-region has seen in recent years.

This work helps us identify where housing would be located under different scenarios. We used this work to help build the programmes presented in the Interim Report.

This report pulls together existing information to help us understand potential growth in freight movements through the western Bay of Plenty sub-region and what they might mean for the future of the transport system.

Constraints considered include areas at risk of sea level rise, high quality soils, natural hazards, culturally and ecologically important sites and other factors set out in this report.

In October 2019 UFTI released its first technical report about the Western Bay of Plenty sub-region’s economy and its key drivers.

This technical report summarises the findings from more than 30 community engagement processes completed by the partner councils and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

This SmartGrowth report identify whether there is a need for an additional urban growth area in the Eastern Corridor of the western Bay of Plenty and includes a preliminary assessment against the objectives of the 2013 SmartGrowth Strategy.

UFTI’s Interim Report presents four possible land use and transport concepts for the future of the western Bay of Plenty, with an opportunity for informal feedback.

UFTI’s Multi Criteria Assessment (MCA) analysis sets out all of the nine programmes we have considered, and the expert analysis of those programmes against investment objectives and other assessment criteria used by the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and Treasury.

In August 2019 the UFTI project team achieved its first milestone, completing the Draft Foundation Report. This Foundation Report is our case for change and is an important step in our journey as we look to re-imagine and shape what our sub-region can be in the future.
